Due to its natural values, Kopaonik was declared a national park in 1981. Kopaonik covers an area of 11,810 hectares and in terms of the number of endemic species, it is one of the most important centers of biodiversity of the endemic flora of Serbia.

Kopaonik Mountain is the largest ski resort in Serbia. Due to nearly 200 sunny days a year, Kopaonik is rightly called the “mountain of the sun”, so throughout the year it offers ideal conditions for an active vacation. Snow falls from the end of November and lasts until May, an average of 159 days a year.
